2021 Thymiopoulos Young Vines Xinomavro

Xinomavro is the main quality red of northern Greece, where the mountains are high and vineyards cool. Though it is a thick-skinned grape, it can show lots of lovely bounce and energy, and that is the case for this young vines release from the biodynamically-inclined Apostolos Thymiopoulos. There’s no oak involved here, it would just be unwanted participant in this orgy of black and red fruits, alpine herbs and and some light, gravelly tannins. This is a sensual medium-weight Greek red with great drinkability, and might be a gateway to bigger Xinomavros to come.
